Greg Hindy Meets Kindred Spirits, Snappy and Puff Puff

Greg Hindy, who is walking across America, had a close encounter with a couple who'd walked the same walk -- 3 times.

As we keep track of Nashua performance artist Greg Hindy, who has taken a vow of silence and is walking across the country taking photographs, we will bring you occasional updates, like the following, which is as fascinating as it is fortuitous. The following was posted on the "Greg Hindy - Walking in Silence" Facebook page by Mindy Pysz, of Canterbury Connecticut (about 86 miles away from Nashua, according to Google maps):

"Yesterday evening I got the pleasure of hosting Greg at my house. My fiance was outside building a retaining wall when he seen him go by our driveway. He quickly came in the house to tell me he seen a traveler. I immediately got into my car to return a favor. My fiance and I have walked across America 3 times (from south to north) and rode our bicycles from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. We often depend on the kindness of strangers during our travels. Once I found Greg on route 169, I offered him a shower, dinner, and a place to stay for the evening. He gladly took me up on my offer! After his shower we exchange stories of our travels. We gave him a detailed map of Connecticut to help him stay off the busy roads. He truly is an awesome individual. Wish him nothing but the very best!"

Since then, Greg had  walked about 147 miles so far, having reached New Haven, Ct. on July 21.
