UPDATE: Arrest Made, Autopsy Results In

UPDATE:

Paul Frontiero III died of a stab wound to the heart, according to results of an autopsy released today by the state medical examiner's office.

Matthew Packer, 19, of Nashua, was charged on a warrant last night in Wareham, Mass., for the second-degree murder of Frontiero, and for the first degree assault on Kathryn Libby, 29, Nashua.

Dr. Jennie Duval of the Office of the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy Monday and determined that the cause of Mr. Frontiero’s death was multiple stab wounds with one stab wound to the heart.  She declared the manner of death homicide.

A statement released today by the state Attorney General's office said the "facts and circumstances of the murder of Mr. Frontiero and the assault on Ms. Libby remains active."   Libby remains in stable condition and is recovering at a Boston hospital.

Police in Wareham, Mass., have arrested Matthew Packer, 19, 36 Carlene Drive, Nashua, on a warrant for second-degree murder in connection with a weekend stabbing that resulted in the death of Nashua resident Paul Frontiero III.

At approximately 10 p.m. Oct. 10 Wareham Police were notified by Nashua Police that Packer was suspected of being involved in the Oct. 9 stabbing in which Frontiero suffered fatal injuries, and two others, Jill Arnold, 29, and Kathryn Libby, 29, also of 13 Spruce St., were injured.

Nashua Police informed Wareham Police that Packer was staying at the home of a relative on Camardo Drive in Wareham.

Police arrived at the Camardo Drive residence at approximately 10:30 p.m., where they found Packer sleeping on a couch and took him into custody without incident.

His arraignment in Wareham is expected this morning. Wareham Police Lt. Kevin Walsh said he did not have extradition details at this time.

Wareham Police Chief Richard Stanley praised the cooperative effort of Wareham Police Department Patrol and Detective Divisions, Communications Officers, and detectives of the Nashua Police Department in bringing Packer quickly into custody.
