Gary Lambert for Congress in 2014?

A Facebook campaign is part of the momentum for former NH Senator Gary Lambert.

Gary Lambert, a Republican, has made no secret of the fact that he's interested in another political run. The former state senator and 30-year Marine Corps veteran has hinted in the past that he'd consider running for office – not ruling out a run for governor.

Ten days ago a Draft Gary Lambert for Congress Facebook page was launched.

On April 14 Lambert appeared on WMUR's "Close Up" to talk about his viability as a candidate in the Second Congressional District.

When asked about rumblings that he might be ready to toss his hat into the political ring again, Lambert said, "I'm feeling good about what I'm hearing..."

Fellow Republican Rep. William O'Brien, R-Mont Vernon, has also been considering a run in 2014 to challenge Congresswoman Annie Kuster.

Program host Josh McElveen asked Lambert what he thought about O'Brien, particularly as an opponent in a Republican primary match-up.

Lambert avoided specifics, saying "Bill O'Brien is Bill O'Brien," and that he didn't want to get negative, but said he would "tell voters why I might be best candidate."

In a Lambert/Kuster match-up, Lambert said he believes voters will remember her "problem paying her property taxes" and that he would promote himself as a career "problem solver," citing his work as a patent attorney.

Lambert ended the show where he began, without a definitive commitment.

"If I go to DC, I will want to solve problems ... if I make that decision," Lambert said.
