NH Dems: Don't Be Fooled by Scott Brown's 'Everyman' Facade

NH Democrats say they aren't worried about Scott Brown's potential candidacy; they just want voters to know the "truth."

It is the current Christmastime "Wall Street ad blitz" for Republican Scott Brown, and not any fear of his power over New Hampshire voters, that has prompted the New Hampshire Democratic Party to go on the offensive.

"It's about what he's done since being thrown out of office in Massachusetts," said state Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley, during a Dec. 19 conference call. "We want people to know how he's making the sizable income he's making."

Buckley and former party chair Kathy Sullivan both stressed that Brown can not "fool" New Hampshire voters into thinking he's an "everyman" who cares about Granite State issues.

"He's been representing these out-of-state Wall Street interests – that's why they're pushing with a massive ad buy, trying to influence what's happening in New Hampshire. It's Wall Street that wants him back in the Senate, not New Hampshire voters," Sullivan said.

In response to a question as to whether he thought Brown would actually throw his hat into the ring and challenge Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH, for a New Hampshire senate seat, Buckley said he can't say for sure why Brown recently sold his Massachusetts home and is poised to make his thirteenth visit to New Hampshire on Dec. 19, as featured guest at the NH GOP Christmas party in Nashua.

"Whatever prompted him to begin this odd journey, what has now happened, the Wall Street special interests outside of New Hampshire are coming into our state and trying to push Scott Brown back into the Senate," Buckley said. "No matter what the genesis of this was, it's clear the big money guys want Scott Brown to represent them."

Brown is scheduled to attend tonight's NH GOP party at the Hunt Memorial Building, 6 Main St., at 6 p.m. The event is also expected to be targeted by two groups of protesters – the NH Democrats; and Tea Party affiliate group, the New Hampshire Firearm Coalition.
