Nashua Police Make Arrest in Lake Street Market Robbery

Thomas Smith is charged with one count of armed robbery, a Class A felony.

A Nashua man was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbing the Lake Street Market last week.

Around 5 p.m. on March 7, Nashua Police responded to the Lake Street Convenience Store at 49 Lake St. for a report of a robbery. A male subject reportedly approached the counter and demanded the money from the register. The man did not brandish a weapon but claimed to have one in his possession. After obtaining the money, the subject left the area on foot on Ash Street.

Several members of the Nashua Police Department's Patrol Division recognized the subject captured on video surveillance as Thomas Smith, 32, of 11A Salem St. Smith was subsequently arrested on an electronic bench warrant just after midnight on Tuesday.

Further information was received, and as a result, Smith was charged with one count of armed robbery, a Class A felony punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment.

Smith was held at the Nashua Police Department pending his arraignment at 9th Circuit Court–Nashua District Division on Wednesday.
